WHY IM RUNNING

In 2019, my husband, Ryan, and I had their third child - Everett. Less than two years later, Everett was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease and passed away just six months later.

After losing my son, I threw my energy into advocacy work for families and mothers like me - those that experienced the same cruelty of a system that turns its back on the vulnerable. I’ve walked the halls of Washington DC and Tallahassee to be a voice for kids who cannot speak up for themselves.

Now, I’m throwing that same energy and passion towards this challenge -  running to replace an out-of-touch career politician who refuses to do the work for every day working and middle class Americans - families just like mine and my neighbors’. I know more than anyone that our families are worth fighting for - and I’m running to finish the fight that Everett and I started together.

MEET BARBIE

Barbie is a mom who never expected to run for Congress. But losing her son in 2022, and then seeing how unwilling Congressman Daniel Webster was to meet with constituents–even those wanting to discuss sick and dying children–made her realize that change HAD to happen. She was not going to just sit back and talk about change needing to happen without being willing to get up and do the work to bring about that change.

Barbie is running for Congress, not just for the reasons that compelled her to act, but in order to build a better future for her children and the community she loves so much. She is tired of politicians who are only working in service of themselves and their party instead of the interests of the people who have voted them into office.

WHAT BARBIE IS FIGHTING FOR

There are three ways that Barbie believes the current Representative has grossly failed his constituents which she is committing to not repeat if elected.

Two women sitting outside at a table, having a conversation and smiling.
  • Barbie commits to be accountable to her oath of office first and foremost and her constituents second. This is a commitment to do what is right and not what is demanded of any President or Political Party in power.

  • Barbie commits to be accessible to her constituents with regular town hall meetings throughout the district and a simplified, streamlined process to request meetings with both Congressional staff and Barbie, and request appearances at community events in the district.

  • Barbie commits to recognizing when public service no longer becomes work that benefits the community and instead only becomes the actions of someone doing a job. At that time, she commits to step aside believing that the people are impeded by representation that is ineffective.
